Next Wednesday 7/9 the evening run is going to be changed from the RedHawk loop to one run from Paloma Del Sol Park. Its just shy of 5 miles. The run will commence at the park at about 6:30PM.
Paloma Del Sol park is located on De Portola just east of Margarita. (right behind the Home Depot)

Last nights club meeting had 14 trotters in attendance. We discussed looking for a location for a club picnic/party later in the Summer and both Sandra and Boston Barb volunteered to look into it. I suggested that maybe Lake Skinner might be a good place to have it. But PLEASE anyone with any suggestions don’t be shy. Let’s hear them. I would perfer somewhere that we could swim but I’ve no idea where that would be. We do need to remain local.

Eric just posted this under “comments” but I wanted to put it on the front page in case no one sees it.
hey all,
just an announcement since there seemed to be some interest at the meeting but there are a few of us showing up at the dripping springs parking lot (about 1 mile past the main vail lake entrance on the right) for an assault on the mountain. the dripping springs trail is about 7.14 miles from the parking lot (.4 mile to the trailhead on paved rd.) to the “top” (trail intersection sign for palomar-magee trail). the course climbs about 3,100′ in that 7 miles on trails somewhat overgrown at the top. the less scenic wild horse trail forks to the left about .2 miles from the trailhead and goes about 7 miles up but w/ about 1,000′ less climbing to crossleys truck trail. i prefer the dripping springs trail because of the cool views of vail lake and surrounding area. there are two plateaus for minor breaks on the climb up. one at 4 miles and another around 5 miles.
because the course (s) are out and back one can run any distance from 14 miles to 1. there is a way to connect dripping springs via palomar-magee trail and crossley’s truck trail for a 19.5 mile run but the 5 miles between wild horse and dripping springs at the top are really overgrown and not maintained for years and is officially closed. i did it last year and while doable not awfully fun fighting the foliage.
where: dripping springs parking lot
when: Saturday morning 7/5, 8:00 am
distance: up to 14.28 miles round trip
terrain: half uphill and half downhill trail
